ENERGY BILL

Switch off on holidays & save energy.

Next time you take a break there may be ways you can save on your energy bills while you are away.

Unplug all non-essential appliances at the power point, so they don’t continue to use energy while not in use. Ensure lights are switched off. Use a timer for lights you may want to leave on for security reasons.

Instead of turning your hot water off completely, set it on holiday mode by reducing the temperature to between 10-20°C while you are away. This means you won't need to restart it when you return - it will keep the water warm enough to prevent bacteria growth, but not so warm that it uses unnecessary energy. Of course, you don't want to turn off your fridge or freezer but leave them as full as you can as they'll retain the cold and run more efficiently – you can fill unused space with water bottles rather than perishable items.

ActewAGL's energy saving tips are designed to help you take control of your energy use, while reducing your bills and environmental impact.
