ActewAGL a signature feature through the launch of Canberra Monopoly, as the region’s energy provider of choice.

20 March 2024

Monopoly has become a family boardgame staple, first hitting shelves in 1935, and this week marks the launch of the Canberra special edition. With a collaboration that showcases local businesses, landmarks and locations, ActewAGL has taken pride of place on the energy provider utilities square.

ActewAGL has well and truly earned its utilities space on the Monopoly board, having provided energy to the Canberra region and surrounds for more than 100 years. Proudly Australian, ActewAGL’s journey began in 1915 when the Kingston Powerhouse was built to supply power to the newly established national capital.

Today, ActewAGL remains a trusted brand in the local community, employing hundreds of locals and supporting charities, not-for-profit and community organisations. ActewAGL is the energy provider of choice for the majority of local customers – powering thousands of homes across the ACT and regional NSW. ActewAGL is innovating and evolving to accelerate sustainability and help customers as we transition, in partnership, to net zero emissions.

To support the transition to net zero emissions, ActewAGL now offers a range of innovative solutions beyond energy – including through the award-winning evHub with exclusive online access to EV charging solutions, payment plans, information and more. The SolarHub & ActewAGL Smart Energy Hub in Mitchell has been assisting customers in their transition from gas to renewable electricity and offers significant savings toward heating and cooling upgrades.

"We are so proud to feature alongside other trusted brands and regional icons through the local edition of Monopoly. Being recognised as the energy retailer of choice attests to our long history of serving the local community and ongoing commitment to help our region prepare for a brighter tomorrow. We know the board game will bring great joy to our community, and recognising local brands and regional icons while moving around the board will make it even more special," said Rachael Turner, General Manager of ActewAGL Retail.

To celebrate the launch of the Canberra special edition of Monopoly, ActewAGL is giving away five copies of the coveted game. Follow ActewAGL’s Facebook and Instagram pages for your chance to win.
