ActewAGL donates to local charity for every customer who makes the switch to paperless billing.

15 February 2024

ActewAGL has announced a new initiative to support a more sustainable future, making a commitment to donate $2 to Lids4Kids for every customer who makes the switch from paper to electronic billing.

"We’re the energy retailer chosen by the majority of customers in our local region and are focused on responding to what they tell us matters most. Sustainability is important for all of us, and customers signing up for electronic bills instead of receiving paper in the post is a small change which can add up to a really big difference,” said Rachael Turner, General Manager of ActewAGL Retail.

Not only is electronic billing better for the environment by reducing paper use, it’s also convenient for customers and means they receive their information sooner. Bills sent via email arrive with easy to understand summaries and are delivered directly to the customer’s email inbox.

"We like to make things as simple as possible for our customers. It’s easy to make the switch to email communications - just a few clicks online at my.actewagl.com.au. Alternatively, our local Energy Consultants are always happy to assist over the phone at 13 14 93," says Ms Turner.

“We’ll always have a range of options available for customers regardless of which plan they choose. While we encourage customers to make the switch from paper billing, customers will always be in control of how they receive their bills. With ActewAGL, they’re not locked in. If they’d like to try electronic billing and decide it’s not right for them, changing back is simple – just head online or give us a call”.

Lids4Kids Australia was founded in May 2019 by Tim Miller, a Canberra-based dad of three young boys who is passionate about the environment. Lids4Kids saves plastic bottle lids and recycles them to protect our environment and wildlife for future generations. Over 95 million lids have been rescued from landfill by Lids4Kids to date.

"Our grass-roots charity is run by a collective group of local volunteers who rescue plastic bottle lids, which are recycled and turned into sustainable products such as buddy benches. With the support of organisations like ActewAGL, we can also partner with other small businesses such as Zero Plastics Australia, who create handmade stationery and homewares from plastic bottle lids," says Lids4Kids's Founder, Tim Miller.

"We deeply appreciate every donation ActewAGL makes during the Go Paperless campaign. Recognising that our children hold the key to the future, transitioning from paper to electronic is an important step toward continuing to safeguard our local environment," adds Mr Miller.
