Lids4Kids benefits from a $10,000 donation as ActewAGL customers choose paperless billing.

14 May 2024

ActewAGL customers have leapt at the opportunity to Go Paperless and support Lids4Kids.

ActewAGL recently made a pledge to donate $2 to Lids4Kids for each household who made the switch to receive communications via email rather than post, up to a donation total of $10,000.

Within weeks of launching the Go Paperless program, more than 5,000 ActewAGL customers had elected to Go Paperless and support Lids4Kids, and the target was reached for Lids4Kids to receive the full $10,000 donation from ActewAGL.

"We were overwhelmed by the support of our customers who switched from paper bills to the more environmentally friendly option of receiving correspondence by email,” said Rachael Turner, General Manager of ActewAGL Retail.

“A small change like this made at scale, can add up to a big difference and positive impact on the environment.  Receiving electronic correspondence is often more convenient too – information is delivered directly to your inbox and can be accessed any time, from anywhere - without the chaos of paperwork piling up.”

Lids4Kids Australia was founded in May 2019 by Tim Miller, a full-time Canberra-based Dad of three young boys passionate about the environment. Lids4Kids collects plastic bottle lids and recycles them to protect our environment and wildlife for future generations. To date, over 95 million lids have been rescued from landfills by Lids4Kids.

"Our grass-roots charity is run by a collective group of local volunteers who rescue plastic bottle lids, which are recycled and turned into sustainable products such as buddy benches. We deeply appreciate all the donations received from ActewAGL during the Go Paperless campaign. Transitioning from paper to electronic is an important step toward continuing to safeguard our local environment. The partnership with ActewAGL and the support of our community solidifies the common goal we all have for a brighter, more sustainable future," says Lids4Kids's Founder, Timothy Miller.

It's easy for ActewAGL customers to opt in to email communications with a few clicks online via my.actewagl.com.au. Alternatively, our local Energy Consultants can assist over the phone at 13 14 93.
