New public EV fast chargers welcomed in Casey Market Town.

17 January 2024

ActewAGL has congratulated its partner, Evie Networks, as it launched two new DC fast chargers, across four new electric vehicle (EV) charging bays at the popular Casey Market Town precinct.

As Evie Networks’ exclusive energy partner for charging sites across the ACT and surrounding region, ActewAGL is proud to be supporting the rollout of additional fast chargers that will provide for an enhanced and seamless charging experience.

Evie Networks’ expansion into higher-density areas like Gungahlin has been welcomed, providing additional public charging options for customers in both the ACT and broader NSW Capital Region with convenient charging located in close proximity to the Barton Highway, a primary commute corridor in and out of the ACT.

The EV charging stations have been installed with assistance from the ACT Government under the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Grant Funding Program, and contribute to the ACT Government's commitment to have 180 public EV chargers available in the ACT by 2025.

Suitable for all types of EVs, the new 75kW fast chargers will provide an efficient and convenient solution for public charging to surrounding customers and commuters, and will further contribute to the growth and uptake of EVs across the region. The Casey chargers can provide up to 75km of range in 10 minutes, making them a convenient option for EV owners and travellers in the north of Canberra.

Rachael Turner, General Manager ActewAGL Retail, said “The ACT has the highest uptake of electric vehicles in the country, and growth will continue at pace through the transition towards net zero emissions. In partnership with Evie Networks, we are delighted to make public EV charging faster, easier and more accessible for drivers, and are committed to continue expanding our charging network to meet the growing demand for the public, business community and visitors into the future.”

Chris Mills, Chief Executive Officer of Evie Networks, said “Evie, in partnership with ActewAGL, is excited to open the new EV charging site in Casey. Earmarked as Evie’s 200th site now live on our national charging network, we are continuing to invest in expanding the network, also ensuring the sites are powered by 100% renewable energy.”
