ActewAGL celebrates being certified as carbon-neutral - for the third year running.

14 February 2024

ActewAGL Retail has been certified as carbon-neutral by Climate Active for the third year running, encompassing both its operations and carbon-neutral gas product.

An Australian Government initiative, Climate Active provides a certification program for businesses and organisations aiming to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to climate action.

"We are delighted to have received carbon-neutral certification for a third year running," says Rachael Turner, General Manager of ActewAGL Retail.

“Climate Active certification represents verification that ActewAGL has taken credible and effective steps to measure, reduce and offset greenhouse gas emissions, to ultimately achieve a state of net-zero emissions for both our operations and carbon-neutral gas product. An increasing number of customers are signing up to ActewAGL’s carbon-neutral gas product, meaning they can continue to use their existing gas appliances while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions – at a cost of only $1.50 per week”.

ActewAGL has been actively taking steps to support the transition to net-zero emissions and is well on the way to delivering on its sustainability promise to help 30% of ACT homes to be powered by solar by 2025 and 1 in 4 ACT households driving an EV by 2030.

To support these goals, ActewAGL's award-winning evHub provides information, tools and products to help local customers drive an electric vehicle sooner. The most recent addition of a large range of residential charger and installation options has been designed to provide added convenience for home charging.

Further, the SolarHub & ActewAGL Smart Energy Hub in Mitchell has been actively making the transition to an all-electric home as seamless as possible with solutions for solar, efficient electric appliances, batteries, energy plans and more – helping customers energy-efficiently power their homes, businesses and cars.

2023 also saw ActewAGL's fourth and most successful Community Grants Program to date, awarding grants of up to $20,000 to local organisations, charities and non-profits, enabling them to become more sustainable as part of their broader efforts to make a positive difference within the local community.
